Act 4.0-6.0: How to Manually Uninstall ACT!
SUMMARY OF ISSUE
Due to errors or other program complications, it may be necessary to manually uninstall ACT! In order to get it functioning correctly again. The following steps are a guide to achieve a manual removal of ACT!

APPLIES TO:
ACT! For Windows 4.0, 2000 (5.0), and 6.0.
SUMMARY OF PROCESS
1. Restart Windows in Safe Mode (Press F8 key upon reboot until Startup Menu appears).
2. Backup the following folders that contain ACT! Databases:
a. C:\My Documents\
b. C:\Documents and Settings\ {Username} \ACT\
3. Delete the following folder: C:\Program Files\ACT\
*** Warning: The following steps include editing the Windows Registry. Use Extreme Caution when performing these steps. Failing to follow the steps may render your Windows Registry corrupt, thus making your computer unbootable. Always backup your registry before continuing.
4. Launch Registry Editor
a. Click on Start à Run
b. On "RUN" line, type "regedit", click ENTER
5. Backup Registry:
a. Click File à Export
b. In the "Export Registry File" dialog box, browse to the C:\ drive
c. Type a name in the "File Name" field, i.e. "RegistryBackup" or Registy-{date}
d. Click save.
6. Delete the following registry values:
a. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Act Email
b. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ActPPC
c. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\ACT!
d. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\ACT! Alarms
e. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\ACT! Word Processor
f. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Symantec\actwp
g. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ACT!
7. Reboot Windows (not in safe more, but in normal mode)
8. Reinstall ACT! For Windows.
