Question 

When attempting to restore a Remote database, you receive the following: 

Error: " The remote database cannot be unpacked because the password is invalid. Please retype the password." 

However, the Remote database (.RDB file) is not password protected and you were never prompted for a password.   

Answer 

This issue can occur when you are attempting to unpack and restore a Remote database if you do not select a Remote database (.RDB) file to restore in the Unpack and Restore Remote Database dialog box. 

After reaching the Unpack and Restore Remote Database dialog box, if you click OK without clicking the Browse button and opening a (.RDB) Remote database file. You will receive the following Missing Entries message.

Click OK, and the following ACT! message appears. 

If you receive this message and the Select the remote database file to restore field is populated correctly, it is likely that your Remote database was damaged while being created or transferred. 

You may be able to resolve the issue by re-creating the Remote database. It is recommended that you close all applications that may be running in the background (Including AntiVirus Software if possible) while creating and transferring the Remote database.
