Restore greyed out in ACT 2005

Cannot Unpack Remote Database Because the Restore Function is Grayed Out.

SYMPTOM

CAUSE

You have created a Remote Database for synchronization, and have moved the .RDB file to a remote workstation. When you attempt to unpack the Remote Database, you cannot because the Restore function is grayed out in the ACT! File menu.

 

RESOLUTION

ACT! 2005 is functioning as designed. Only users with the Security Level of Administrator may access the Restore function from within a database. However, any user can access this function when no database is open.

 

In order to unpack and restore the new remote database, do one of the following:

 

Log in to the current database as a user with Administrator security level -- or -- Click the File menu and then click Close, so that ACT! is open but no database is currently selected. ACT! will now allow you to click the File menu, and then click Restore.
